"But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God." 1 Corinthians 1:23-24 KJV

God Will Work It Out

Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7

My brothers and sisters, the gospel artist Evelyn Turrentine Agee recorded a song entitled, “He’ll Work It Out.” The song went something like this. “He'll work it out. He'll work it out. Jesus will, He'll work it out. If you have a problem and you cannot solve it, turn it over to Jesus, He'll work it out. That problem that I had just couldn't seem to solve, so I prayed to the master and He brought me through it all. If you pray to Jesus everyday he'll fix your problem in every way. Turn it over to Jesus, He'll work it out. I cried and I cried. I cried all night long. I prayed and I prayed. I prayed to the Lord. Then I gave my problem to Jesus one day. I left it alone and let Him have His way. If you turn it over to Jesus He'll work it out. He'll work it out. Jesus will work it out.” My brothers and sisters, if we are truthful with ourselves this morning, we can all testify that it is sometimes a disturbing truth for many of us who follows Christ in that even though we belong to God through faith in Christ, we still seem to experience problems, troubles and trials that plagued us before we were saved. And once again if we are truthful this morning, we often become discouraged and bogged down in life’s cares.

The fact that both the Old and New Testaments address this problem the same way indicates that God knows that problems and worries are unavoidable in this life. Thankfully, God has given us the same solution He gave in both Psalms and Peter’s letter. Contained within the two verses of our text are several amazing truths. First of all, God will sustain us. Secondly, He will never let us fall all because He cares for us. Taken one at a time, we see first that God declares both His ability and His willingness to be our strength and support—mentally, emotionally and spiritually. He is able and willing to take everything that threatens to overwhelm us and use it for our benefit. He has promised to, “Work all things together for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” Even at times when we doubt Him, God is still working for our good and His glory. And He has also promised that He will not allow no trial to be so great we cannot bear it and that He will provide a means of escape. 1 Corinthians 10:13 tells us, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” By this, He means that He will not let us fall. When Peter says that He cares for us, he’s telling us that that Christ of ours gives us the motivation behind His other promises.

I think I ought to tell some and remind others that our God is not cold, unfeeling or changeable. Rather, He is our loving Father whose heart is tender toward His children. Jesus reminds us that just as an earthly father would not deny his children bread, so God has promised to give us “good gifts” when we ask Him. You need to understand that in the spirit of asking for good gifts, first we must pray and tell the Lord that we hear what He's saying in John 16:33, where Jesus says, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." Then we should ask the Lord to show us how He has overcome our problems, our worries, our anger, our fears and our guilt. The Lord reveals to us through His Word, the Bible, that we can be of good "cheer," that we can rejoice in our problems because God will use them to our benefit. When we find ourselves in the midst of struggles and trials, we must understand that our tribulations produce perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.

He also reveals to us that we should see our worries and frustrations as an opportunity to practice putting our trust in the Lord with all our heart, and lean not on our own understanding. It reveals to us that in all of our ways we should acknowledge Him and it’s then that He shall direct your paths. All of our problems can be dealt with through simple faith in God's Word. We need to understand that God is bigger than all our worries and problems put together, and we must realize that if we are to have any victory in our lives, we turn it all over to the Lord and allow Him to work it out. If by chance you have been living under a rock and you don’t get out very often, I need to tell you that everybody suffers with difficulties. Everybody suffer trials and tribulations. Everybody go through something. You see, the Bible teaches us that temptation is common to mankind. What we must do is not let Satan deceive us into thinking that all our problems are our fault. Don’t let Satan fool you into believing that all our worries will come true and all our anger condemns us. Don’t you let Satan deceive you into thinking that all our guilt is from God. We must understand that if we do sin and confess, God is able to forgive us and cleanse us. We need not feel ashamed, but rather take God at His Word that He does forgive and cleanse. None of our sins are so heavy that God cannot lift them from us and throw them into the deepest sea. You also need to understand that if we belong to Him.

God will not allow any difficulty to come into our lives that we are not capable of bearing in the power of Christ. With every temptation and every testing that comes our way, God will remain faithful to us. He will provide a way to endure the test. We do not have to give in to the sin and circumstances of life. We can obey God in every circumstance. That’s why we need to be encouraged in our walk with Christ. In our walk with Christ, the prayer “Deliver us from evil” will be answered. I need to help somebody here this morning and tell you that in the midst of what you’re going through, all you got to do is stand on the promises of God. And if you here and don’t know what the of God is, let me tell you. He promised to never leave us nor forsake us. I think I ought to tell you that these promises do not mean we will never face trouble. Even Jesus said we would. For He said, “In this world you will have trouble.” The key is found in Jesus’ next words when He said, “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” I’m reminded how Paul and his companions were tried by the troubles of life as they took the gospel into new places.

His testimony of his troubles and trials was. “For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life: But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead.” It sounds like Paul was tempted beyond what he could bear. And this fact leads us to another truth that our strength to endure testing and temptation does not come from ourselves, but it comes from God. Anything that comes our way, anything that tempts us, any tragedy that befalls us, we are capable, in God’s power, of overcoming them all because the God we serve will work it out. You need to leave here after the benediction knowing that in all things we can gain the victory through Christ. Life is not easy. The fact is we often need a way of escape. Life is hard, but we can face it with confidence in the promises of God and faith in Him that He will work it out. You ought to believe me this morning when I tell you that we are “more than conquerors” in Christ. John said that everybody who is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. To overcome the trials and temptations of the world is to prevail over them, just as David, in God’s strength, prevailed over Goliath. Just as Daniel overcame the lion’s den dilemma. Just as those Hebrew boys were strengthened in a fiery furnace.

When you have Christ evil schemes and disagreeable circumstances will not win the day. You see, our trials are for a purpose, we have the armor of God and the privilege of prayer, and God will see to it that our trials do not overcome our faith. Our position as children of God is secure. We will come through the trials intact. I don’t know about you, but like Paul, “I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” And I know situations may cause despair, but trust in God can give you hope. Situations may cause heartbreaks, but God is a heart fixer. The troubles of this world may weigh you down, but God is a heavy load carrier. Can I get a witness? Situations may cause you to worry, But I come to tell you God is a mind regulator. Situations may cause sorrow, but God promises never to leave us alone. Situations may cause frustrations, but God will work things out. I need to help somebody today. For you need to know that God is able to use the same thing that got you into trouble, to get you out of trouble.

It was Adam who got us into trouble, but it was Jesus who got us out of trouble. It was Eve that got us into trouble, but it was a woman by the name of Mary that God used to get us out of trouble. It was a tree in the midst of the garden that got us into trouble, but it was a tree raised up out on Calvary to get us out of trouble. Somebody here this morning has been waiting on the Lord and praying for a long time. But what you need to understand is that He may not come when you want Him, but grandmama will tell you that He’s always, not sometimes, not every once in a while, but He’s always on time. All you got to do is give to Him and He’ll work it out.  If those disciples were here this morning, they would testify that Jesus will work it out. Oh you remember how they went on a temporary mission and they decided to do some healing. And if you read you Bible, at that particular time they couldn’t cast out demons. They couldn’t heal the sick or open blinded eyes. They couldn’t even walk on water by themselves. All because it wasn’t their time yet. But when the Holy Spirit came down and they received power, they turned the world upside down. I tell you that God has a way of working things out. God will remember you when you can’t remember your own self. Somebody here has had some trouble in their lives and was on the edge of going down for the last time.

But then you remembered what momma said. She told you to put your trust in the Lord. Somebody here has had heartaches and pains, but you remembered what that old preacher said when he told you that God is able. Somebody here has felt like they couldn’t go on anymore only to remember the words of a song, “The Lord will make a way somehow.” And I wonder this morning if there’s anybody in here who is like me and is able to testify that if you give to the Lord He will work it out. I don’t know about you, but I don’t mind testifying to the goodness of God and how God brought me through. You need to understand that I’m not like some of you, I’ve had troubles in my life. But when I turned it over to the Lord, He worked it out. It was the Lord who fought my battles in the midst of the warfare that I was in. God I tell you is able to deliver you. I’ve been around the block a few times and I can testify that you’ll never know that God is all you need, until God is all you got. We must realize this morning that sometimes God does not always move when we want Him to. I think I ought to tell you that God’s deliverance is depended on your trust in Him.

You got to understand that in order to get out of something, you first have to go through it. Joseph had to go through the jail in order to get out. Daniel had to go through the lion’s den in order to get out. Joseph had to go through the pit in order to get out. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego had to go through the furnace of fire in order to get out. Paul and Silas had to go to jail in order to get out. Somebody here know what I’m talking about. Somebody here know that if it hadn’t been for the Lord had not worked it out, you wouldn’t have made it. You know for yourself that you couldn’t make it on your own. You wouldn’t be where you are if the Lord had not worked it out. I need to tell you that we have a God who stands watch over us both day and night. All day, all night, the angels keeps watch over us. Even when our enemies come up against us, they won’t get to us because we dwell in safety of an almighty God. I heard the Psalmist say that, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” God will keep you in safety. Sometimes confrontations and challenges will be on your calendar all day long, but God will allow you to dwell in safety. You might be in the middle of a circumstance, but God will allow you to dwell in safety. You see, God is our protector. And I think I ought to tell that He’s protecting us all the time. Ever since we have come into the world, God has protected us.

Because of some of the stuff that we’ve been through, some of the things that we had to endure. And if we are honest with ourselves, some of us wouldn’t be alive if it had not been for the Lord working some stuff out for us. Now don’t sit in this Holy Place and act you’ve never been through some stuff that almost messed you up. But God and His grace worked it out for you. You need to understand that God knew us even before we got here. He’s been protecting us. Somebody here should be glad that He protected you. There are times in this walk of life when we just can’t stand no more. Trouble seems epidemic. Problems are plentiful and they pop up like mushrooms in a fertile field. There are times when we can’t stand no more. Things seem to pile up. In spite of all of our efforts to make it over, it seems like we are destined to go under. But I’ve found out that this Christ of ours cares and because He cares, He will work it out. When you are sick, He cares. When death invades you family circle, He cares. When the job you have played on plays out, He cares. When the hell hounds are on your track, He cares. When problems and situations get the best of you, He cares.

When sickness has weakened you, when temptations have tripped you up, when demons have dogged you, worries have drained you, and wolves have chased you, I stopped by to let you know that God cares for you. I don’t know how you feel about it, but I have discovered through numerous experiences, through multiple valleys in my existence; that He is the God over our binds and squeezes. But I need to tell you this morning, that's not all His role. As CEO of the world, He is not departmentalized. He is not limited. He is not confined to a particular corner or situation.  He is not hemmed in nor is He stuck in a corner somewhere.  I don't want to hurt nobody's feelings, but what I'm trying to say is…that I don't serve a coupon God.  I don't trust in aluminum cans.  I don't have to wake every morning in a bind, moving from one crisis to another. And if by chance I do, I’m not worry because the God that I serve He's got the whole world in his hands and He’s able to work out any situation or circumstance that I find myself in. He has my situation in His hands. He has every circumstances of ours in His hands. I believe that I can one or two witnesses in here this morning to help me testify that so many things have happened in our lives to stop us from getting to where God wants to be, but God worked it out and even though we haven’t gotten there yet, thank God we’re not where we use to be.

Adverse situations have strained the very seams of our existence, but God worked it out. So many hardships were in our way, but God worked them out. We’ve had so many obstacles blocking your way. So many friends have let us down. So many trials in our have come in lives and our anthem song has become "Trials dark every on hand and we cannot understand all the way that God will lead us to that blessed promised land.  But we're trusting in the Lord and according to His word and we'll understand it better bye and bye.” I got to leave you right here, but I need to tell you that I’ve had so many tears in my eyes, but dried my weeping eyes. So many times I’ve been stab in my back, but God worked it out. I’ve had so many valleys in my life, but I found out that if I turn it over to Jesus, He will work it out.

Can I tell every child of God in here this morning, tell everyone who carries the blood stained banner of my Jesus, that the Good news this morning is that God has us in protective custody. It ought to be comforting to all believers that Christ Himself has committed us to the care of God. He will not suffer us to be tempted above what we are able. He knows what we can bear, and what we can bear up against. He will, in His wise providence, either proportion our temptations to our strength or make us able to deal with them. We don’t need to perplex ourselves with the difficulties in our way when God will take care that they shall not be too great for us to encounter. He will make a way to escape, either the trial itself, or at least the mischief of it.

Conclusion:

There is no valley so dark God cannot find a way through it. No affliction so grievous that He cannot prevent, or remove, or enable us to support it, and in the end overrule it to our advantage. God knows what we are able to endure and He will sustain them in their temptations. Yes, things may get tough and the going may get rough. Yes, problems may erupt and temptations may knock us down and we may feel like we’ll all alone, but what we need to do is hang on in there because the Lord will work it out. We have a God who will not forsake us nor leave us alone. We have a God who would come to moury rescue. He’s a God who will meet our needs and calm our fears. And I don’t know how you feel about it, but I’m so glad that I serve a God who is able this morning. I’m able to testify that what He’s done for me, He’s able I tell you to do the same thing for you. All you have to do is hold on to Him, because He’s a God who will hold on to you.

He’s a God you can depend on. I need to tell somebody here this morning that no matter what your situation is, all you got to do is give it to the Lord and He will work it out. All because He’s a God that will make a way somehow. He’s a God who will see you through. Oh He’s a God who will touch you and at the time, will bless you. He’s a God who can destroy, but yet He will defend. You can depend on Him. You can depend on Him to be a bridge over all of your troubled waters. You can trust God to be with you in the wilderness of this life. You can trust God to give you water in dry places. You can depend on God to pull down high walls and make your crooked ways straight. You can trust Him to take the heat out of the fires of life and shut the mouths of contrary winds that come in your life. He’s a God that will work it out for you. In your sick room, He’ll work it out. He’s able to open blinded eyes and raise up the dead. He’ll fight your battle in time of a battle. He will work it out for you. I need to tell somebody here this morning before I leave you that if that God of ours can take you to it, He’s able to carry you through it. He’s a God that sho will work it out for you. All you got to do is call on Him.

And you know, you know, you know, you know, oh you know that I made up in my mind that I’m going to depend on Him. After all the things that He’s done for me, I’m still going to trust Him. If I’m in trouble, I know that the Lord will work it out. When this old body of mine is wretched with pain, oh I know that Dr. Jesus will make everything alright. He’s right there just when I needed Him the most. He was right there when I was down to my last dime and He worked it out. He worked it out when friends walked off and left me. He worked it out when family misunderstood me. I know that He’s able to carry me through. Through the storm and through the rain. Through the heartaches and through the pain. Over mountain high and way down in the valleys of life, He’s able to carry me through. The reason I know, I tried Him and I found out for myself that He’s God all by Himself and He don’t need nobody else. And if you don’t hear nothing else I said this morning, you ought to hear this. He’s bigger than your problem and He’s mightier than your enemies. Oh He’s a God that will work it out for you. If you don’t mind this morning, let me tell you just how I know that He’ll work it out. He’ll work it out is because He’s my Shepherd and I shall not want. The reason I know He’ll work it out is because He’s my light and He’s my salvation.

The reason I know He’ll work it out is because He’s my rock and He’s my shield. The reason I know He’ll work it out is because He’s an ever present help in time of trouble. When folk forsake me, that Christ of mine will work it out. The reason I know He’ll work it out is because Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. And because He’s able to work it out, no weapon formed against me shall not prosper. Oh if the Lord be for me who can be against me. I got a God who will work it out. I got a God who I can put all my trust in. It doesn’t matter what trouble is your way, God will work it out. It doesn’t matter what sickness is in your body, He will work it out. That is why we woke up this morning. That is why death didn’t lay his hands on us. That is why the blood is still running warm in our veins. Oh there is a God who will work it out.

All you got to do is call on Him and tell Him all about it. Ain’t God good? Somebody here can acknowledge the fact that God will work it out. Somebody here can acknowledge that God is a way maker. Somebody ought to let the world know that He’s worthy to be praised. You ought to let the world know that God is an awesome God. I’ve found out for myself that, what He’s done for others, He’ll do the same for me. Yes, God will work it out. God will work it out. I know, I know, I know for myself that if it had not been for the grace of God, I wouldn’t have made it this far. After all the things I’ve been through, I still have joy. Won’t He work it out? Won’t the Lord work it out?  If you know He’ll work it out, you ought to wave your hands. If you know He’ll work it out and you’re not ashamed, you ought to stand on your feet. Take somebody by the hand and say God will, God will, God will Oh ______________ God will work it out. Ain’t God good? Ain’t the Lord alright? Ain’t the Lord alright? Say yeah. Say yeah. Oh yeah.
